Toronto-based food and travel blog Dobbernationloves is our go-to for their delicious daily recipes and culinary tourism guides that give travellers an authentic taste of the local cuisine. Now, the brand has launched its very own virtual cooking classes, hosted by founder Andrew Dobson. Having travelled to over 90 countries as a culinary tourism expert, Dobson shares his culinary prowess in a fun and engaging way.
Each class is centred around a unique theme inspired by travel, seasonality or special holidays. Allow yourself to be transported as you travel the globe with your tastebuds during this memorable experience. First, Dobson shows you how to create a cocktail that you can sip as you go (this is our kind of cooking class). Then cook along with Dobson to make a delectable main course and either an appetizer or dessert. Each session gives you three new recipes to add to your arsenal.
Dobbernationloves virtual cooking classes are a fun way to learn and get more comfortable in the kitchen. The lively events also make for a great date, an activity with friends or just an exciting way to spend an afternoon. Classes also make a great gift for any homecooks (or wannabes, no judgement) in your life.
Classes run twice a month on Sundays from 3 – 5 p.m. EST, so you can cook along and then dig into your creations for dinner. Click the link below to sign up for your favourite classes now.
Dobbernationloves Cooking Class Schedule
Sunday March 13, 3 – 5 p.m. EST
Swiss food is known for being incredibly decadent and delicious, and this class delivers on just that. Warm up from the inside out with a cozy Swiss mac and cheese recipe with fried onions, bacon and apple sauce. Dessert is even more comforting — you’ll be making ooey-gooey and just the right amount of crispy Lindt Lindor chocolate cookies. And did we mention you’ll be drinking a negroni spritz all the while?
Academy Award Oscar Party
Sunday March 27, 3 – 5 p.m. EST
Hosted on the night of the Academy Awards, this class is perfect for film buffs, whether you’re having guests over to watch the show or just want to jazz up the evening. Start with a sparkling prosecco cocktail to toast your fave actors. Then, you’ll be making jalapeño poppers and burrata crostini — two great crowd-pleasers. And it’ll all be ready just in time to watch the stars hit the red carpet.
Flavourful Vietnamese Cooking
Sunday April 10, 3 – 5 p.m. EST
Growing your own herbs this spring? Lucky for you, this class is all about using fresh herbs in easy-to-make, flavour-packed dishes. Sip on a dark rum mojito while you make crispy lemongrass Vietnamese tofu and bun cha — a Vietnamese rice noodle bowl.
Vegetarian Summer Entertaining
Sunday April 24, 3 – 5 p.m. EST
If you’re a vegetarian, flexitarian or just someone looking for healthy, fresh summer recipes, this meatless cooking class is for you. Up your summer hosting game with guasacaca (Venezuelan guacamole) for starters. Then, wow guests with a colourful roasted beet salad followed by fluffy strawberry cream cheese muffins. Not to mention a cucumber gin & tonic that’s anything but basic — you’ll be making it with a homemade basil mint and cucumber juice. Yum.
Mother’s Day Italian Inspired Feast
Sunday May 8, 3 – 5 p.m. EST
This extra special cooking class will be co-hosted by Dobson’s very own mother, Janice. The class takes place on Mother’s Day, so you can cook this delicious Italian-inspired feast for mom or with mom. Or give the class as a Mother’s Day gift. It starts off with an Aperol gin cocktail before the main event: ricotta gnocchi and tahini Caesar salad.
